A lot of people are putting their money on PeeWee Longway being the next Atlanta upstart to break out beyond his city (after Thugger, of course), and "Sneakin & Geekin" makes a strong case for that argument. Here, Metro contrasts woozy synths and Legend-of-Zelda-like sounds as Peewee waxes poetic on the joys of MDMA.
Jose Guapo (of "Guaponese" fame) and the Migos may be too young to be so jaded on the music industry, but "Fuck The Rap Game," where Guapo rails against Warner Bros., Def Jam, and an unnamed rep from Universal is a super fun and infectious approach to calling out the major label system. The four budding rappers assert their independence over Metro’s bouncy production.
A tandem effort with Atlanta trap pioneer Zaytoven, "Ounces" is heavy on Zay’s colorful jack-in-the-box bounce, but the beat also drops harder than you'd expect, which kind of gives away Metro's hand in the production. There’s also a fantastic violin creeping underneath it all, as the Migos gush about the joys of distributing copious amounts of drugs.
