I-f is the producer, DJ and founder of the online radio phenom once called CBS, and now affectionately known as Intergalactic FM, which has become a spiritual home for electro, techno, house, boogie and Italo fiends everywhere. I-f’s music began with him playing squat parties in The Hague, and distributing Unit Moebius and Bunker Records. With his Mixed Up in The Hague tapes and his electro anthem “Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass,” he sparked a wave of vintage arpeggiated basslines and West Coast imitators.
Having gazed into the crystal ball, I-f realised way ahead of the curve that 24/7 radio and streaming was the future of music consumption and turned his CBS hub into Intergalactic FM. Nowadays you can find the DIY space pirate running his Viewlexx and Murder Capital labels, making jagged electronics with his mate Intergalactic Gary as The Parallax Corporation, or re-incarnating his Beverley Hills 808303 moniker and throwing down a crunchy set of raw acid.
In this condensed and edited excerpt from his recent RBMA Radio interview, I-f talks about his beginnings, as well as the fundamentalist record collector mentality he’s left behind.
